I was fully expecting it to be either gross or a total flop… I wasn’t feeling too positive about how this pizza dough would turn out.
Unfortunately, the homemade pizza dough recipe I used was RUBBISH but me being me, had a little fiddle with the amounts and guess what? It worked!
…and the best part? It was actually really tasty & so quick and easy!
I have always wondered how to make pizza crust from scratch & finding this pizza crust without yeast, that you don’t need to prove or knead is a total win for me and it also means I can share it here with you, so you too can learn how to make a pizza from scratch.
Homemade Pizza Toppings
It’s up to you whether to go all out with the toppings for your pizza, or if you’re trying to keep your food costs down, you could simply opt for just cheese, or maybe ham & pineapple…
No matter how you like to make your pizza, you can feel confident in loading this pizza base up… the base is a bit on the doughy side when cooked but it is in no way stodgy so it can withstand a lot of toppings.
You can see from the picture below that I rolled my pizza bases out very thin but they were so easy to pick up and transport to the baking tray.
Pro Tip: Bake these on top of the grease proof parchment paper, directly on the oven shelf without a baking tray to achieve a crispier pizza base.
For our pizza, we chose pepperoni, cheese, bacon & pineapple and they were all delicious.
Here are some more pizza topping suggestions that you could try on your homemade pizza…
- Bacon
- Pineapple
- Sweetcorn
- Mushroom
- Pepperoni
- Mixed Bell Peppers
- Jalapeno Peppers
- Red Onion
- BBQ Chicken
- Ham
- Sausage
- Pulled Pork
- Cherry Tomatoes
- Olives
- Tuna
There are plenty more delicious pizza toppings that I could list here but this post is all about how to make homemade pizza and I like to keep things simple.
The Perfect Homemade Pizza Sauce
As you are looking at how to make a homemade pizza, I guess you might be wondering how to make pizza sauce from scratch too to take your pizza to the next level…
If you want to keep your pizzas super quick & easy you could use tomato puree straight from the jar as your pizza sauce or even just a tin of crushed tomatoes.
We just used tomato puree for our pizzas this time… but if you want to put in a bit of extra effort for a seriously delicious pizza sauce for your homemade pizza then you could use my very own pizza sauce recipe below that I use when I’m making pizzas in my pizza oven… so far it’s the best ever pizza sauce recipe!
I am by no means a chef or Italian food expert, in fact, my pizza sauce recipe may or may not be considered an Italian pizza sauce recipe at all… I’m pretty sure it’s not… but it’s a pizza sauce recipe none the less and it’s so tasty that it would be a crime not to share it with you.
This homemade pizza sauce recipe does make quite a huge batch, but you could always separate the leftovers into silicone muffin cases and freeze them for another day.
Pizza Sauce Ingredients
- 1 tbsp salted butter

- 4 cloves of garlic crushed
- 1 tbsp brown sugar

Easy Homemade Pizza Dough With Only Two Ingredients
This recipe makes 4 large thin crust pizzas or 2 thicker base pizzas
This easy pizza dough recipe uses only 2 ingredients to create a light pizza base that is seriously delicious.
- 500 ml Natural Full Fat Greek Yogurt
- 400 grams Self-Raising Flour plus extra for dusting the kitchen surface
-
Preheat your oven to 200 C
-
Add the yogurt to a bowl
-
Add 300 grams of the flour and mix with a fork or spoon
-
Add more flour as you need it... eventually, the sticky mixture will become a dough consistency.
This happened for me at 400 grams of flour but I did need to add quite a bit more for the dusting of the work surface & rolling pin to prevent any stickiness.
-
Separate into 4 equal balls, add flour to your work surface and roll out the dough balls one at a time into round pizza base shapes.
-
Transfer onto greaseproof paper and then add your pizza sauce and toppings.
Pro Tip: Add a little sprinkling of salt between the pizza sauce layer and the cheese for a great little flavor kick.
-
Transfer the greaseproof paper & the prepared pizza onto a baking sheet, or directly onto the oven shelf.
-
Bake for 15 mins or until your pizza base edges are turning golden & your toppings look cooked.
